How often does it actually rain on Barcelona wedding days? In my 10+ years of photographing Barcelona weddings, I’ve encountered significant rain on roughly 8% of wedding days. Light drizzle or brief showers happen on about 15% of days. The vast majority, 77%, are sunny or partly cloudy. Barcelona’s reputation for sunshine is well-earned.
What if I’m really worried about rain? Choose a venue with excellent indoor options. Historic masias, luxury hotels, and palaces in Barcelona often have beautiful interior spaces. I scout indoor portrait locations at every venue so we have gorgeous backup options.
Do you charge extra for rain backup plans? No. Rain contingencies are part of professional wedding photography. I include backup planning in every package at no extra cost.
Can we reschedule our engagement session if it rains? Absolutely. For engagement sessions, we can reschedule if the weather is truly terrible. However, I often encourage couples to embrace light rain, the results are usually worth it.
What about hair and makeup in the rain? Professional hair and makeup artists in Barcelona are experienced with humidity and light rain. I recommend waterproof mascara, setting spray, and an updo or style that won’t frizz. Your makeup artist will have specific recommendations.
Will rain damage my wedding dress? Light rain won’t damage most wedding dresses. For heavy rain, we use umbrellas and covered areas. If you’re concerned, discuss fabric care with your dress designer. Many modern wedding dresses are more resilient than you think.
